From 2006 the processing center Millikart, established by the National Bank of Azerbaijan (NBA), can be given to the disposal of the commercial banks, Alim Guliyev, the vice chairman of the Managing Board of the NBA, told Trend.
According to Guliyev, a program on development of payment systems, confirmed by the President of Azerbaijan, also indicates that with in 3 years the Center will be given to banks. However, the interests boosted even within one year of the work of Millikart the NBA also supported the idea, Guliyev noted. He did not exclude that it could occur from next year.
So far 5 banks Azerdemiryolbank, AFBank, Debutbank, Ganjabank and Azerturkbank - have joined Millikart. Besides, Azerdemiryolbank served cards of international payment system Visa International via Azerdemiryolbank through this center, while from 15 January 2006 there will also appear cards of MasterCard system. It is possible as Millikart completed the certification in both payment systems. Certification of the new center in the international payment systems was carried out through Azerdemiryolbank, which is a full-member of the payment of the system.
According to Guliyev, to date many banks, including Unibank, are interested in functioning through Millikart.
