BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 22. Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Head of the Presidential Administration of Kyrgyzstan Adylbek Kasymaliev reviewed the progress of construction of several major infrastructure projects in Karakol.

According to the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, during his working visit to Issyk-Kul Region, Adylbek Kasymaliev inspected the construction of a wastewater treatment facility in Karakol.

"Demolition work has been completed, excavation work for new facilities has been carried out, and a warehouse and administrative building have been constructed. The necessary equipment has also been installed. Construction of the wastewater treatment facility is scheduled to be fully completed in autumn 2026," the statement of the Cabinet notes.

Kasymaliev also reviewed the construction of a new congress hall in Karakol. The facility will have a total capacity of 1,500 people and include a main hall, an additional hall, a conference room and a library. Furthermore, he inspected the construction of a new multifunctional sports complex. The facility is being built on a 12-hectare site and will accommodate up to 5,000 people. The complex will include an Olympic-standard swimming pool, a 200-seat hotel and a sports boarding school for 275 students.

Karakol currently has a population of about 100,000. The city welcomed around 300,000 tourists last year, nearly three times its population. In recent years, Karakol has seen upgrades to its road infrastructure, construction of new housing, and development of water supply and sewerage systems, while tourism and transport infrastructure have also been expanded.

Following the inspection, Kasymaliev instructed relevant government agencies and the city administration to ensure high-quality construction work and strict compliance with deadlines for commissioning the facilities.
