BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 13. Dushanbe is seeking to attract more foreign investment and improve statistical reporting as the Tajik capital works to strengthen its investment environment and economic planning.

This was stated in a statement by Rustam Emomali, Chairman of the National Council of the Supreme Assembly of the Republic of Tajikistan, published on his social media account.

According to him, a roundtable titled “Attracting Foreign Investment and Improving Statistical Accounting in Dushanbe” was held in the capital, organized by the Department of Investment and State Property Management of the Executive Body of State Authority of Dushanbe.

''The meeting was chaired by Dushanbe Deputy Mayor Nurjahon Ismoilzoda and brought together representatives involved in investment attraction, state property management and economic statistics,'' the post reads.

The participants discussed measures to improve the city’s investment climate, attract foreign capital and strengthen statistical accounting related to investment activity.

''Particular attention was paid to issues of attracting foreign investment and improving statistical accounting in Dushanbe,'' the statement said.

The discussions focused on the importance of reliable and comprehensive economic data for assessing investment activity, identifying priority areas and improving the effectiveness of policies aimed at attracting foreign investors.

The city authorities also emphasized the need to strengthen coordination among relevant institutions and improve approaches to collecting and processing investment-related information.

The roundtable comes as Dushanbe seeks to expand its economic potential by attracting investment into infrastructure, industry, services and other sectors. Improved statistical reporting could help authorities better assess investment trends and identify areas where additional measures are needed to support investors.

The meeting also highlighted the role of accurate statistical information in enhancing transparency and providing a clearer picture of the capital's investment environment.

''The issues discussed at the roundtable are important for further improving the investment climate and strengthening the statistical accounting system in Dushanbe,'' the statement reads.

The participants agreed on the importance of continued cooperation between relevant city authorities and other stakeholders to improve investment promotion mechanisms and statistical practices.
